Model United Nations (MUN) is a club that takes place every Friday during the lunch break. During that time we debate about problems happening all over the world. It is a great way to get used to public speaking and has helped me greatly. This is my second year participating in these debates. I think it is a great help as we discuss different subjects: economical, social, human rights and others. It also informs us, as the subjects we cover are actual problems happening everywhere. Participating in this club allows you to meet new people from our school, from other schools and even other countries. The best things in my opinion are the conferences where you get to go and represent a country, you also get to skip schools especially for the four day conference in Milan.
If you are in sixth year there's also a MEC (Model European Council) conference in one of the other European schools. When you go to MEC you meet people from different European Schools who come from all over Europe and you debate with them. It happens in three different languages: French, English and German.
MUN is done in English so it helps improve your language skills. It helps build self-confidence, makes your public speaking better and forces you to think for yourself.
