The official ceremony of prestigious Oscars awards took place on Sunday, February 9th, 2020, in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Without any further ado, let’s see our winners:
The Best Picture Award goes to….
Parasite movie producers: Kwak Sin Ae and Bong Joon Ho.
The movie talks about greed and class discrimination, which threatens the newly formed relationship between the wealthy Park family and the poor Kim clan in South Korea.
The Best Actor and Actress in a leading roll are….
Joaquin Phoenix, who starred in Joker as the Joker.
The plot of the movie is: forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the disguise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.
Renée Zellweger, who starred in Judy, as Judy Garland (our beloved Dorothy).
The plot of the movie is: thirty years after starring in "The Wizard of Oz," beloved actress and singer Judy Garland arrives in London to perform sold-out shows at a nightclub. While there, she talks with friends and fans and begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans, her soon-to-be fifth husband.
The Award to the Actor and Actress in a supporting role are….
Brad Pitt, in Once Upon A Time Hollywood, as Cliff Booth.
The plot of the movie is: Actor Rick Dalton gained fame and fortune by starring in a 1950s television show, but is now struggling to find meaningful work in a Hollywood that he doesn't recognize anymore. He spends most of his time, palling around with Cliff Booth, his easygoing best friend and longtime stunt double. Rick also happens to live next door to Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate.
Laura Dern, in A Marriage Story, as Nora Fanshaw.
The plot of the movie is: A stage director and his actor wife struggle through a hard divorce that pushes them to their personal and creative extremes.
The Award for the best Animated Feature Film goes to….
Toy Story 4’s director Josh Cooley.
The plot of the story is: Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody's slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they're worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy.
The Award for Costume Design goes to….
The Little Women costume designer, Jaqueline Durran
The plot of the movie is: In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling, Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops Scarlett fever that brings the family back together.
The Award for Best Music (Original Song) goes to…
From the movie Rocketman, the song, Love Me Again by Elton John.
The plot of the movie is: Young Reginald Dwight changes his name to Elton John and collaborates with singer-songwriter Bernie Taupin to become one of the most iconic figures in pop history. Set to his most beloved songs, it's the epic autobiographical musical story of Elton John, his breakthrough years in the 1970s and his fantastical transformation from shy piano prodigy to international superstar.
The Award for The Best Short Animated Film goes to….
Matthew A. Cherry and Karen Rupert, who won, for their short film (which you can find on YouTube, called Hair Love)
The plot of the film is: A young girl with afro hair, tries to make her hair, like her mother used to, when her mother isn’t at home. Her father tries to help her, but he doesn’t succeed. He gives up, but she doesn’t. This short film, shows us, that through perseverance and help, we can get to where we want to. It’s one of the sweetest short film you would definitely watch.
The Last Award for the Best Script goes to…
Bong Joon Ho, for Parasite.
