Prepared by Carmen Sylva

Whether you are an adult, or a teenager, you will always be a child on the inside!

That is exactly why today is the day, we should all celebrate because today is Universal Children’s Day.

What and when is the Universal Children’s Day?

Universal Children’s Day, is the day, that we improve child warfare worldwide, promote and celebrate children’s rights and promote togetherness and awareness among all children. It is celebrated on 20th of November.

When was it established?

Since 1989, World Children's Day marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on Children's Rights.

What is the UN doing this year?

This year, the theme for the U.N, Universal Children’s Day is blue, so Landmark buildings around the world will light up blue on the day to show support for child rights.

Follow the hashtag to see how kids and famous personalities are speaking out #WorldChildrensDay

And watch out for kids taking over in TV, media or debates in national summits!

What are we doing, to celebrate this special day?

Mothers and fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, government leaders and civil society activists, religious and community elders, corporate moguls and media professionals, as well as young people and children themselves, can play an important part in making World Children's Day relevant for their societies, communities and nations.

What can you do?

You can join, the celebration on this day as well!

From wearing something blue to decorating your classroom or office, you too can help turn the world blue. Something subtle to very visible, anything blue goes!

Know your Children's Rights and speak out on social media #WorldChildrensDay .

This year is extra special, marking the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. A time to celebrate and a time to demand action for child rights.

World Children's Day offers each of us an inspirational entry-point to advocate, promote and celebrate children's rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children.
