LEAD LIKE A GIRL: 11th October, the International Day of the Girl

Updated: Oct 13, 2019

Women are taking actions to make this world a better place. Do you know that it was a Costa Rica female president Laura Chinchilla who during her mandate 2010-2014 has abolished government budget investment in military and diverted the money into education, social well-being and sustainable environmental policies? Do you know that in May 2019 New Zealand's female Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has launched the first government's budget aligned for the "well-being" of the society? Women leaders are changing the World. And the women leaders look upon to the younger generation girls, hoping new more smart and bright girls will join the world stage. There are far too little women in politics. Nearly 80% of the world’s parliamentarians are men. 93% of Heads of State and 92% of Heads of Government and 95% of CEO’s Fortune 500 companies are men. We need more women. This is why the Women Political Leaders (WPL) has launched the initiative Lead Like a Girl. Every year, on the 11th of October, the World is celebrating the International Day of the Girl. And on this special day, the WPL will get into social media female politicians from Europe to Australia and New Zealand, Asia, as well as Africa and Central America to share their stories with all girls from around the World. Join #Girl2Leader and #LeadLikeAGirl! Follow online gatherings and talk to these famous female leaders through social media!

On Instagram you'll be able to capture some moments from live meetings that will be held across the globe.
