You may have heard about the fact that the greenhouse gas production has decreased globally, or about the dolphins returning to the canals of Venice, or about the wild animals visiting large cities as a consequence of quarantine. But unfortunately, despite the reduction in greenhouse gases, there has been an increase in waste products.
In addition to the horrific consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the virus has significantly contributed to the world’s ongoing garbage crisis. Due to the pandemic, the quarantine, and the precautions against contamination, the consumption of plastic packaged goods has increased. This is because the packaging protects the goods from contamination, making them safer for consumption.
As a result, you may have experienced a huge increase and accumulation of household waste, and this is where our schools’ creative side intervened. The Secondary school’s art teacher Ms. Heim came up with a wonderful idea to help transform our household trash into something creative that holds a deep meaning. The “Tower of Trash” project was assigned to her students, challenging them to create the tallest tower they could make, using trash!
Take a look at some of the students’ amazing work:
The students were able to transform something as repelling as trash, into fun and creative works of art!
Please be conscious about what you are buying and try to produce as little trash as you can!
If in doubt: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
