Prepared by our CoSup representatives
Our article "What is CoSup and what it does?" was published some time ago. If you missed it, you may go back and check it.
On Sunday November 22nd, all the COSUP members from every European school attended their second meeting (online) where we each discussed various issues that we believe need to be addressed in all the European Schools.
We talked about the mental health, which is constantly present in our schools, but also about the constant stress students are in given the situation of the COVID19 pandemic.
We spoke of potential solutions to tackle these problems. Some of the ideas include a common platform be created for the “sharing” of resources relevant to the curriculum of the European Schools, to supplement the materials used in ES courses. This platform will be called “EUROHUB.”
We, as two our Varese School representatives, also brought forth an idea of our own how to help students during the online schooling.
As an outcome of the survey results and feedback received from students on how they are coping with the current situation, it became clear that students are struggling to keep up with the online schooling and preparation for the pre-Bac exams as they are buried under a vast amount of assignments. Moreover, they are stressed because exams are just around the corner. Therefore, we the two Varese COSUP representatives, have come up with a proposal that could potentially benefit all the students. We thought of asking ex S7 students if they would be willing to tutor a group of up to 4 students per time from year 5 to year 7. Having some helps from other student could ease up the situation.
In addition, there was talk of making an ES Minecraft and discord server as well as a proposal to introduce an ICT 4-hour subject. Digital skills are becoming more and more important for the future, so this is something that could be reinforced at our schools.
Moreover, our European school of Varese PR representative, Marta Mercado (S6ENa) and the other members of our PR; Arianna Motola (S6ITA), Carolina Barroso (S6ENb) and Feline Van Ankenis (S5NL), suggested to have different merch for all the European schools. The merch would include water bottles, face masks, hoodies etc.
These ideas still need to be discussed and approved.
